Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-05-21
1. Acceptance
By creating a Doorstep account, signing in to an existing one, or otherwise using the Doorstep services (collectively, the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.
These Terms apply to all users — landlords, tenants, and any staff a landlord adds to their account. The same Terms apply to everyone, but specific obligations vary by role and are noted throughout this document.
2. Account Registration
To use Doorstep, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information.
- Keep your account credentials secure and not share them with others.
- Notify us immediately at info@doorstepproperty.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that contain inaccurate information, show signs of security compromise, or are used in ways that violate these Terms.
3. Subscription & Billing
Doorstep uses per-unit monthly pricing. The tier that applies (Starter, Growth, or Scale) is determined by how many units you manage. Every feature is available on every tier — only the per-unit price changes with portfolio size.
Paid billing is currently in preparation and not active during the early-access period. When billing launches, additional details (billing dates, proration, refund policy, cancellation specifics) will be added to this section. Until then, Doorstep is free to use.
There are no setup fees and no annual contracts. You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the then-current billing period.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Doorstep to:
- Violate any applicable law, including fair housing laws, anti-discrimination laws, or landlord-tenant law in your jurisdiction.
- Harass, threaten, or discriminate against tenants, landlords, contractors, or other users.
- Scrape, harvest, or systematically extract data from the Service.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code of the Service.
- Attempt to circumvent authentication, authorization, or rate-limiting mechanisms.
- Create multiple accounts to circumvent unit-count tier pricing or other limits.
- Upload malware, viruses, or content that infringes copyright or other intellectual property.
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service to third parties without our written consent.

5. Intellectual Property
Doorstep retains all rights, title, and interest in the platform — including the code, branding, design, features, and aggregate data insights derived from usage.
You retain all rights in the data you input. By using Doorstep, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, display, and process your data solely as necessary to operate the Service for you.
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use Doorstep for your own property management purposes, subject to these Terms.
6. Tenant Data Handling
When landlords use Doorstep to manage tenants, they take on specific responsibilities. As a landlord using Doorstep, you agree that:
- You are responsible for the accuracy of tenant data you enter.
- You will comply with all applicable laws regarding tenant data, including fair housing law, anti-discrimination law, and landlord-tenant law in your jurisdiction.
- You have a lawful basis to collect, store, and process the personal data of your tenants.
- You will obtain any tenant consents required by applicable law before inviting a tenant to Doorstep.
Doorstep provides tools to help landlords organize their portfolios — we do not audit your legal compliance. Disputes between landlords and tenants (rent disputes, lease disputes, eviction proceedings) are between those parties; Doorstep is not a party to them and is not responsible for their resolution.
7. Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Doorstep is not liable for:
- Disputes between landlords and tenants.
- Rent collection issues. Doorstep tracks rent activity but does not currently process payments — money moves through the channels you and your tenants choose (Zelle, Venmo, check, etc.).
- Lease disputes or interpretation of lease terms.
- Loss of data due to user error, account compromise, or third-party service outages.
- Indirect, consequential, incidental, special, or punitive damages.
Our maximum aggregate liability to you for all claims arising from or related to the Service is limited to the amount you have paid to Doorstep in the twelve (12) months prior to the event giving rise to the claim.
8. Termination
You may terminate your Doorstep account at any time by closing it from your account settings or by emailing info@doorstepproperty.com.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, if your account shows signs of fraud or abuse, or if your continued use of the Service creates legal or operational risk for us.
On termination:
- If you have a paid subscription, it stops at the end of the current billing period. We do not refund partial periods unless required by law.
- You may export your data via info@doorstepproperty.com for 30 days following termination.
- After 30 days, your personal data is deleted, subject to the retention details in our Privacy Policy.
9. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [TBD — jurisdiction pending legal review], without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
Any disputes arising from or related to these Terms or the Service will be resolved through binding arbitration in [TBD], subject to legal review. You waive any right to a jury trial or to participate in a class action.
Note: this section is a placeholder. The final governing law, arbitration venue, and dispute-resolution mechanics will be set after attorney review prior to launch.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will notify you via in-app notification or email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
Continued use of Doorstep after the effective date of an update means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, your remedy is to stop using the Service before the effective date.
